B.ED Course Eligibility

The Bachelor of Education (B. Ed) is an academic qualification that mainly examines the teaching field as a professional degree course at the school level from formal to semi-formal and informal sectors. It equips the tutors with the knowledge, skills, and ethics needed to fulfill his/her role as a teacher.

Educational Qualification

Age Limit

- The lower age limit mostly is 18 years and there is no upper age. Still, some universities state upper age limits of 35-40 years.

- For reserved category candidates, 5 years is laidback in the upper age limit.

Entrance Exams


- At the State Level – A test conducted by state and territory education boards knowingly as a National Eligibility Test. Certain states also take CTET into account.

- University/ Institute Level – Most colleges may have their entrance tests or treat merit in the qualifying exam for admissions.

Many of the entrance examinations are designed to measure a candidate's teaching aptitude, reasoning ability, general awareness, and language modification. A legitimate score is necessary for admission to B.Ed in most colleges; these exams provided such an opportunity

Language Requirement

- Fluency in English and Hindi is required as these are the primary languages of instruction in most schools. Some colleges may also test proficiency in regional languages.

 

- English and vernacular language subjects are compulsory in the B.Ed curriculum.

Other Criteria

- No distance mode for B.Ed except few universities approved by DEC, only regular classroom programs approved by NCTE are valid.

- Should be medically fit with a minimum 50% hearing capacity and normal vision.

- Reserved category certificates issued by the competent authority will be required where applicable.

- Some colleges require clearing an interview round for admission.
